China urges U.S. to reject transit stop by Taiwan president

BEIJING (Reuters) - China’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday the United States should not allow Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen to transit through the country en route to the Caribbean.

Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang made the comments at a daily news briefing.

Tsai will visit St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis, and Haiti on the July 11-22 trip.
