U.S. seeks tougher European sanctions enforcement against Russia over Ukraine

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States would like to see European countries do more to help Ukraine in its struggle with Russia over Crimea, including tougher enforcement of sanctions and reconsidering support for the Nordstream 2 pipeline with Moscow, the State Department said on Tuesday.

“Many governments have imposed sanctions on Russia for its actions in Crimea, in Ukraine. Not all of those sanctions ... have been fully enforced. So that is one thing that we can look (at) for European countries to do more,” said State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert.

“Also something we’ve talked about a fair amount is Nordstream 2,” she added.
