Argentine steel industry chamber says U.S. tariffs would hit production, employment

BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) - Argentina’s steel industry chamber said on Monday it was seriously concerned about U.S. plans to re-impose tariffs on the South American country’s exports of the metal, which it said would harm local production and employment.

U.S. President Donald Trump ambushed Brazil and Argentina on Monday saying he would restore tariffs on steel and aluminium imports from the two countries in apparent retaliation for currency weakness he said was hurting U.S. farmers.
