Russian state TV says one of its reporters abducted in Ukraine

MOSCOW, Aug 30 (Reuters) - Russia’s main state TV channel said on Wednesday that one of its reporters had been abducted in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.

Channel One said the journalist, Anna Kurbatova, had been grabbed by unknown assailants near her home, bundled into a car, and driven away.

The channel said it had information suggesting that Ukraine’s SBU state security service was responsible. The SBU could not immediately be reached for comment.

Channel One said Kurbatova had previously received threats from people who did not like her reports.

The SBU said on Tuesday it had barred two Spanish journalists from the country over their coverage of a conflict with eastern separatists - a move media groups decried as an attack on free speech. (Reporting by Dmitry Solovyov in Moscow and Natalia Zinets in Kiev; Editing by Andrew Osborn)
