China approves resumption of Canadian meat imports: foreign ministry

BEIJING (Reuters) - China has reopened its market to Canadian meat imports, its foreign ministry said on Wednesday, confirming an announcement by Canada’s prime minister on Tuesday.

Beijing had blocked shipments of Canadian pork and beef in June, citing bogus export certificates.

Foreign ministry spokesmen Geng Shuang said Canada has addressed the safety concerns that China had and had come up with a “rectification” plan.
