DUBAI (Reuters) - Qatar called for an international investigation into attacks on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday and a de-escalation of tensions in the region.

A foreign ministry statement carried on state news agency QNA condemned what it called acts of destruction “regardless of who is behind them” and warned against tampering with the security of the Gulf and wider region.

It urged all parties to show restraint and stop escalations.
