PARIS (Reuters) - Lazard has hired Charles-Henry Gaultier as a managing director in charge of equity capital markets advisory in France, the investment bank said on Monday.
Gaultier, who is to start at Lazard in June, has been responsible for equity capital markets in France for Deutsche Bank since 2015.
“His (Gaultier’s) expertise and network of relationships will enable us to enhance the breadth and depth of services we offer our clients throughout Continental Europe,” said Matthieu Pigasse, chief executive of Lazard France and global head of mergers and acquisitions.
Bankers involved in equity capital markets (ECM) help clients raise money in initial public offerings and other share issues.
ECM issuance in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region was up 44 percent in 2017, according to Thomson Reuters data, while fees reached $4.8 billion, the highest since 2014.
Deutsche Bank increased its market share in the region by 0.1 percent in 2017 and ranked the sixth, while Lazard was not in the top 20.
