Fed's Evans says keeping open mind on further monetary adjustments

MADRID (Reuters) - Chicago Federal Reserve Bank President Charles Evans said on Thursday that the two recent rate cuts undertaken by the U.S. Federal Reserve were appropriate, but the bank would be ready to make further adjustments if needed.

“We will go to our next meeting, have a discussion about what’s appropriate, and I’m extremely open-minded to making an adjustment if that’s what the appropriate policy is,” Evans told reporters on the sidelines of a financial event in Madrid.

The Fed last month cut its overnight policy rate by a quarter of a percentage point for the second time this year, to target a range between 1.75% and 2.0%.
