This week in sports: Brewing up a good MLB post-season

Listen to this week’s Keeping Score podcast with sports business expert Rick Horrow:

A wrap-up of the week in sports news:

The Milwaukee Brewers continued the sprint for the first wild card in the National League this week, toppling the Cincinnati Reds 7-0, in a lopsided victory that saw pitcher Gio Gonzalez deliver six shutout innings. The team has enjoyed an unexpectedly strong season on its bottom line too, packing stands at Miller Park. Rick’s take: This year’s performance is that much more impressive when you take into account how strong the NL Central has been all season; the division is likely going to snag both of the NL’s Wild Card spots.

President Donald Trump on Twitter this week hailed a plan between North and South Korea to file a joint bid to co-host the 2032 Summer Olympics as “very exciting!” The proposal would potentially involve Seoul and Pyongyang both hosting events. Rick’s take: In addition, Seoul Sports Minister Do Jong-hwan noted the country’s interest in co-hosting the 2030 World Cup alongside China, North Korea, and Japan.
