NEW YORK, Jan 8 (Reuters) - A gauge of overall demand at a U.S. three-year government debt auction fell to its weakest level since early 2009 with the yield on the three-year supply sold at the lowest level since April, Treasury data showed on Tuesday.

The ratio of bids to the $38 billion three-year Treasury notes offered was 2.44, which was the lowest reading since April 2009. (Reporting by Richard Leong; Editing by Richard Chang)
