FACTBOX-Foreign investment projects in Vietnam

July 29 (Reuters) - Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment said on Tuesday that it estimated foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first seven months of 2008 would be more than double the figure in all of 2007 at $45.2 billlion.
Foreign investors pledged to invest $20.3 billion last year.
The latest FDI projects that have been licensed include Malaysian developer Berjaya Land Berhad’s $5.9 billion township in Ho Chi Minh City and Taiwanese group Formosa’s $7.8 billion steel complex in the central province of Ha Tinh, the ministry said.
Taiwan now ranks as the biggest foreign direct investor in Vietnam with $8.42 billlion in new investment funds committed so far this year.
