NEW YORK, Feb 8 (Reuters) - Local telephone company Windstream Corp WIN.N on Friday said it quarterly profit rose, boosted by a $451 million gain from the sale of its directory publishing business.
Windstream said its fourth-quarter profit rose to $583.6 million, or $1.25 per share, compared with $117.7 million, or 25 cents a share, a year earlier.
Revenue was $827.8 million, essentially flat from last year but higher than the $822.4 analysts had expected, according to Reuters Estimates.
Windstream said it added more than 41,000 broadband customers during the quarter, bringing its total broadband customer base to more than 871,000, up 28 percent from a year ago.
