Biographies

Name Description

Morten Opstad

Mr. Morten Opstad has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Idex ASA since March 1997. Mr. Opstad is a partner and chairman of the board in Advokatfirma Raeder DA in Oslo. He has rendered legal assistance with respect to establishing and organizing several technology and innovation companies. His directorships include inter alia current board positions in Thin Film Electronics ASA (chairman) and cXense AS (chairman). Mr. Opstad has a legal degree (Cand.Jur.) from the University of Oslo from 1979. He was admitted to the Norwegian Bar Association in 1986.

Stanley Swearingen

Mr. Stanley A. (Stan) Swearingen, Jr. has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of IDEX ASA effective as of April 1, 2018. He has recently been Chief Products Officer at IDEX. Prior to joining IDEX in May 2016, Stan served as Senior Vice President & General Manager MaxTouch Business Unit and Chief Technology Officer of Atmel, where he drove the overall technology strategy and direction for the company. Stan has also served as Senior Vice President and General Manager Biometric Products Division and Chief Technology Officer for Synaptics, where he was instrumental in the formulation of the biometric fingerprint strategy, including the acquisition of Validity. Prior to Synaptics, Stan held senior positions at semiconductor companies, such as MiniCircuits, Skyworks Solutions, Agere Systems and National Semiconductor.

Henrik Knudtzon

Mr. Henrik Knudtzon no longer serves as Chief Financial Officer of Idex ASA, effective as of June 1, 2019. He has held the position since August 1, 2014. Prior to joining IDEX, Mr. Knudtzon was a Director at the private equity firm Herkules Capital, where he worked for six years. From 2004 to 2008 Mr. Knudtzon was a consultant at McKinsey & Company. Mr. Knudtzon holds an MSc degree in Economics and Business Administration, with a specialization in finance, from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration.

David Orme

Mr. David M. Orme has been Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing at IDEX ASA since June 2018. He has a strong track record in supporting key sales, marketing and business development activity, in particular from Bell ID, where he was the CEO for nine years and drove the business to substantial growth until acquisition by Rambus Inc., a top tier semiconductor company, in 2016. Most recently, David has helped transition the Bell ID business to being part of Rambus Security Division. He has also been the COO of Quadnetics Group plc and Bell Group plc, both major electronic security companies. David holds a BA Honours in Management Studies from Leeds University and is a Fellow of the UK Institute of Directors.

Anthony Eaton

Mr. Anthony Eaton has been Chief Technology Officer at IDEX ASA since March 1, 2019. He has previously been VP of Systems Engineering.

Paul Taylor

Mr. Paul Taylor has been Vice President, Operations & Program Management at IDEX ASA since January 2018. Paul joined IDEX Biometrics in July 2017 to establish and lead the program management organization and in January 2018 also assumed responsibility for Operations. He most recently served as SVP, Mobile Transaction Solutions with Mastercard where he was responsible for development and delivery of custom digital mobile wallet applications for Mastercard issuers. Paul joined Mastercard in 2014 as part of the acquisition of the C-SAM business where he held position of Chief Operating Officer. Previously, Paul had a long career at Nokia working on both technology and handset development programs. He has always focused on cutting edge technology having achieved success leading the developments delivering the first commercial solutions for GPS, contactless and WiMAX technologies implemented in Nokia phones. Paul holds a BEng (Hons) Electronics Engineering from Southampton University.

Guido Bertocci

Mr. Guido Bertocci has been Vice President Software Engineering at IDEX ASA since September 2016. His previous role was as Vice President Software Engineering in the Smart Display Division, the largest division in Synaptics. He has also worked for LSI, Agere Systems, Lucent Technologies, and Bell Labs. Guido has a track record of success in R&D, focusing on best practices for accelerating productivity and project execution using innovative project management and development processes. Guido holds a Master’s in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor’s with University Honors in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.

Chris Ludden

Mr. Chris Ludden has been Vice President, Silicon Engineering at IDEX ASA since June 2016. He has responsibility for silicon development, packaging technology, product-test engineering, and advanced silicon and sensor architectures. Chris has over 25 years’ experience in active-matrix display and capacitive sensing technologies. Prior to joining IDEX, Chris worked as Senior Director, Touch-Display Integration for Atmel Corporation’s CTO organization supporting capacitive touch and display integration projects. Prior to Atmel, he worked for Synaptics, Inc. as Senior Director, Display Integration Architecture where he was responsible for developing Synaptics’ Touch-Display Driver Integration (TDDI) architecture and advance in-cell capacitive sensing schemes. Previously, Chris held various mixed-signal management positions with National Semiconductor, Vivid Semiconductor and Crystal Semiconductor. Chris received his MSEE from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Brian Roberts

Mr. Brian Roberts has been Vice President, Product Management & Business Development at IDEX ASA since 2017. He has over 20 years of experience in the semiconductor technology, human interface and biometric industries. Prior to joining IDEX, Brian held various senior level roles at Synaptics, the most recent of which was Senior Director of Strategic Marketing in the Biometrics Products Division. At Synaptics, he also held the role of Sr. Director for the Large Touchscreen and Display Product Line. Prior to Synaptics, Brian was Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Amalfi Semiconductor (acquired by QORVO). Brian holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and an MBA from Henley Business School.

Sarah Mathews

Ms. Sarah Mathews has been Senior Director of Group Human Resources at IDEX ASA since 2016. She has over 20 years’ experience of HR within the technology sector, and prior to joining IDEX, held various HR roles at Hitachi Europe Ltd, Renesas Technology Europe Ltd, and most latterly, McAfee Inc. and Intel Security. Sarah holds a BA(Hons) degree in Business Studies, an MA in Employee Relations & Law and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development in the UK.

Fred Benkley

Mr. Fred Benkley has served as Chief Innovation Officer at IDEX ASA since March 1, 2019. He has previously been Chief Technology Officer at IDEX America within IDEX ASA since 2013. He has over 30 years of experience in the semiconductor technology and biometrics industries. Mr. Benkley founded Picofield Technologies in 2010, which company’s technology was acquired by IDEX in 2013. Mr. Benkley founded Validity Sensors in 2002 and Metro Engineering prior. Mr. Benkley holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University.

Lawrence Ciaccia

Mr. Lawrence John (Larry) Ciaccia has served as Independent Member of the Board of Directors of IDEX ASA since May 12, 2015. He has broad expertise from the semiconductor industry. Mr. Ciaccia played a pivotal role in transforming AuthenTec from a start-up into the world's leading fingerprint sensor supplier, serving as CEO from September 2010 and instrumental in the acquisition of AuthenTec by Apple in October 2012. He remained with Apple through February 2013 to assist in the acquisition integration and transition.

Deborah Davis

Ms. Deborah Lee Davis has served as Independent Member of the Board of Directors of IDEX ASA since May 12, 2015. Ms. Davis has more than 25 years of technology (software, telecommunications) and Internet (payments/financial services & retail) company experience, with 14 years in European and global vice president roles at PayPal, eBay, Verizon and Symantec. She holds nonexecutive director positions at Which?, Intelligent Environments and is an active trustee of SATIB Conservation Trust. Ms. Davis is a Member of the Institute of Company Directors, UK and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Electronics) Honours degree from the University of Melbourne and a Sloan Masters in Science (Management) with Distinction from London Business School.

Hanne Hovding

Ms. Hanne Hovding has served as Independent Member of the Board of Directors of Idex ASA since 2007. Ms. Hovding has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration. In her professional career she has held several management positions within personnel administration, finance, credit card administration and debt collection.

Andrew MacLeod

Mr. Andrew (Andy) James MacLeod no longer serves as Independent Member of the Board of Directors of Idex ASA effective as of May 9, 2019. He has held the position since May 7, 2014. Mr. MacLeod is CTO for Vodafone plc.'s Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific region. Previously, Mr. MacLeod was Group Chief Networks Officer at Vodafone. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and a Chartered Engineer (metals materials and mining), holds an MBA from Warwick Business School and an MA in Materials Science from Keble College, Oxford University. He has since the early 1990's held CEO, COO and CTO positions at major telecommunication companies. He is a board member of Vodafone Australia and Indus.
