Bruce Rhine

Mr. Bruce C. Rhine is the Independent Chairman of the Board of the company, since July 2007 and as a director since July 2006. From July 2006 to February 2008, Mr. Rhine served as our Chief Strategy Officer. From March 2007 to August 2007, Mr. Rhine served as our Chief Executive Officer. From 2000 to 2006, Mr. Rhine served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Accent Optical Technologies, Inc. and as its President from January 2003 to April 2005 and from August 2000 to September 2001. Mr. Rhine holds a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering and an M.B.A. in Finance from The Pennsylvania State University. Pierre-Yves Lesaicherre

Mr. Pierre-Yves Lesaicherre has been appointed President, Chief Executive Officer, Director of the Company., effective November 27, 2017. He was CEO from 2012 until 2017, during which time LED revenue nearly doubled despite the challenging competitive environment, and the company grew to $2 billion in revenues, with over 9,000 employees worldwide. Prior to Lumileds, Dr. Lesaicherre was senior vice president and general manager at NXP Semiconductors, from 2006 until 2011. During his tenure at NXP, he managed three semiconductor product lines, which together totaled over $700 million in sales. From 1998 until 2006, Dr. Lesaicherre served in various technical, product and business line management positions at Philips Semiconductors, following five years at NEC Semiconductor in DRAM process development. Dr. Lesaicherre holds an MBA from INSEAD, and holds both a PhD and MS in Materials Science from the National Polytechnic Institute of Grenoble, France.

Greg Swyt

Mr. Greg Swyt is Principal Financial Officer and Accounting Officer of the Company.He has served as the Vice President, Finance and Controller of Nanometrics from August 2016 to present, and served as Nanometrics’ principal financial officer from December 2017 to March 2018. Prior to joining Nanometrics, Mr. Swyt was Managing Director, Finance, at Intevac Corporation, a company delivering thin film solutions, from May 2008 to July 2016, where he managed the Global Financial Planning and Analysis Organization, which also included Manufacturing Finance, Government Finance and Regional Finance. Mr. Swyt received a MBA and a BS in Finance from San Jose State University.

James Barnhart

Mr. James Barnhart is Senior Vice President - Operations of the Company. Mr. Barnhart joins Nanometrics from Cymer LLC, an ASML company, where he has served as senior vice president, global operations since 2010. His substantial operations experience in the semiconductor manufacturing industry began nearly 30 years ago, when he joined Applied Materials as a manufacturing manager in etch tool production. During his 17 years at Applied Materials, Mr. Barnhart served in various operational leadership roles throughout the company, including as chief operating officer of the etch products business group, managing director of corporate asset services, and strategic worldwide account operations general manager. Mr. Barnhart left Applied Materials in 2006 to serve in senior operational roles at Johnson & Johnson and AREVA Solar before returning to the semiconductor industry at Cymer in 2010. While at Cymer, Mr. Barnhart envisioned and built $1B-capable infrastructure and achieved a near-doubling in revenues. Prior to Applied Materials, Mr. Barnhart was an engineering division officer in the U.S. Navy, where he ensured operational reactor regulatory compliance as a chemistry and radiological controls officer. He completed the U.S. Naval Nuclear Power postgraduate school with honors, earned accelerated promotion, and was evaluated in the top 1% of all Navy peers. Mr. Barnhart holds an MBA from the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley, and a B.S. in electrical engineering from Washington State University's College of Engineering in Pullman.

Kevin Heidrich

Mr. Kevin Heidrich serves as Senior Vice President, Strategic Marketing and Business Development since 2006. Mr. Heidrich has participated in many functions, expanding his scope to include new product development, corporate marketing, product marketing and business development. Mr. Heidrich is now responsible for both corporate strategy and marketing, as Nanometrics expands its overall solution space within process control metrology. Prior to Nanometrics, Mr. Heidrich spent a decade at Intel Corporation in a variety of roles including process research and development at Intel’s Technology Development facility. Mr. Heidrich received B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Colorado School of Mines in Chemical Engineering.

Rollin Kocher

Mr. Rollin Kocher serves as Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations of the company. Prior to joining Nanometrics, Mr. Kocher held several senior management positions over 17 years at KLA-Tencor, including Global Sales for Films and Scatterometry, Sales for Taiwan, North America and Europe, and Sr. Director of Sales for the Samsung Business Unit. His last position at KLA-Tencor was General Manager of the Samsung Business Unit, and in that capacity, was responsible for Sales, Marketing, Applications, and Service. Mr. Kocher holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from the University of North Texas.

Janet Taylor

Ms. Janet Taylor serves as General Counsel of the company. Ms. Taylor served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Company Secretary of STATS ChipPAC Ltd. from June 2005 to June 2015, where she was responsible for all legal matters, including corporate governance, intellectual property, litigation and securities compliance. Prior to joining STATS ChipPAC Ltd, Ms. Taylor was engaged in transactional practices at international law firms in New York, Singapore and London. Ms. Taylor was admitted to the Bar in New York in 1990 and in Singapore in 2010. Ms. Taylor holds a J.D. from the Harvard Law School and a B.A. in History from the University of Texas at Austin.

J. Thomas Bentley

Mr. J. Thomas serves as Independent Director of the company. Mr. Bentley served as a Managing Director at SVB Alliant (formerly Alliant Partners), a mergers and acquisitions firm, from 1990, when he co-founded the firm, until October 2005. Mr. Bentley currently serves on the board of directors of Rambus, Inc., a chip interface technology company. Mr. Bentley holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Science in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Bentley’s extensive knowledge of the capital markets, strategic planning and mergers and acquisitions from his experience at SVB Alliant provides expertise to the Board in matters regarding Nanometrics’ capital requirements and strategic direction.

Mr. Edward J. Brown serves as Independent Director of the company. From May 2013 until September 2015, Mr. Brown was the Chief Executive Officer of Cymer Light Source, following the merger of Cymer, Inc. with ASML Holding Ltd. Mr. Brown served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Cymer, Inc. from September 2005 until the May 2013 merger with ASML. From 1984 to 2005, Mr. Brown was employed at Applied Materials, Inc. where he held numerous high-level management positions including group vice president and senior advisor to the president, vice president and general manager of the Intel business unit, as well as managing director heading up their largest product division, Global Operations. Prior to Applied Materials Inc., Mr. Brown held key engineering positions at TRW Corporation and Burroughs Corporation. Mr. Brown received a master’s degree in business administration from National University and a bachelor’s degree in industrial studies from San Diego State University.

Robert Deuster

Mr. Robert Deuster serves as Independent Director of the company. Mr. Deuster has been the Chief Executive Officer of Collective Universe, Inc., a public company that provides authentication and grading services to dealers and collectors of coins, trading cards, event tickets, autographs and historical and sports memorabilia, since October 2012. He is also a director of Collective Universe, Inc. Mr. Deuster served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Newport Corporation (acquired by MKS Instruments in 2016), a public company that is a global supplier of laser, optical and motion control products, from May 1996 until his retirement in October of 2007. He also served as President of Newport from May 1996 until July 2004, and in June 1997 became Chairman of the Board. From 1985 to 1996, Mr. Deuster served in various senior management positions at Applied Power, Inc. (now Actuant Corporation, a New York Stock Exchange listed company), which is a global manufacturer of electrical and hydraulic products, serving as Senior Vice President of the Distributed Products Group from 1994 to 1996, President of the Barry Controls Division from 1989 to 1994, President of the APITECH Division from 1986 to 1989 and Vice President of Sales and Marketing of the Enerpac Division from 1985 to 1986. From 1975 to 1985, he held engineering and marketing management positions at General Electric Company's Medical Systems Division. Mr. Deuster currently serves as a director of Ondax, Inc., a private optical components company. He also was a director of Symmetry Medical Inc., a publicly traded provider of medical devices and solutions to the global orthopedic market, until that company was sold in June 2016. Mr. Deuster received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Marquette University in 1973. Mr. Deuster holds a Masters Professional Director Certification from the American College of Corporate Directors, a public company director education and credentialing organization.

Christopher Seams

Mr. Christopher A. Seams is Independent Director of the company,since August 2015. Mr. Seams served as the Chief Executive Officer of Deca Technologies from June 2013 to 2016, where he was responsible for the overall management of the business. Prior to Deca Technologies, Mr. Seams served as executive vice president of sales and marketing at Cypress Semiconductor, and held various technical and operational management positions in its manufacturing, development and operations. Prior to joining Cypress in 1990, he worked in process development for Advanced Micro Devices and Philips Research Laboratories. Mr. Seams also serves on the Board of Directors of Xperi Corporation, and previously served on the Board of Directors of Tessera Technologies, Inc. until December 2016. Mr. Seams earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University and his master's degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Seams is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Christine Tsingos

Ms. Christine A. Tsingos serves as Independent Director of Nanometrics Incorporation. Ms. Tsingos is currently the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Bio-Rad Laboratories. In 2002, Ms. Tsingos was named Bio-Rad’s Chief Financial Officer; in 2003, she became Vice President and in 2012, she was named Executive Vice President. Bio-Rad designs, manufactures and distributes a broad range of innovative products and solutions for the global life science and clinical diagnostic markets. Prior to Bio-Rad, Ms. Tsingos held executive positions at Autodesk, The Cooper Companies, and Attest Systems. Prior to that, Ms. Tsingos was a consultant to Attest Systems from 2000 to 2002. She earned her bachelor of arts in International Studies from the American University in Washington D.C. and an M.B.A in International Business from the George Washington University. In 2010, Ms. Tsingos was awarded the prestigious Bay Area CFO of the Year.
