Biographies

Name Description

Thomas Gendron

Mr. Thomas A. Gendron serves as Chairman of the Board, President, Chief Executive Officer of the Company. Mr. Gendron previously served as Chief Operating Officer and President of the Company from September 2002 until July 2005, and as Vice President and General Manager of Industrial Controls from June 2001 until September 2002. Prior to that, Mr. Gendron served as Vice President of Industrial Controls from April 2000 through May 2001, and as Director of Global Marketing and Industrial Controls’ Business Development from February 1999 through March 2000. Overall, Mr. Gendron has served with Woodward for over 25 years in both the aircraft and industrial businesses, providing leadership in sales, marketing, business development, and product support management.

Robert Weber

Mr. Robert F. Weber, Jr., serves as Vice Chairman of the Board, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer of Woodward, Inc. Prior to August 2005, Mr. Weber was employed at Motorola, Inc. for 17 years, where he held various positions, including Corporate Vice President and General Manager - EMEA Auto. Prior to this role, Mr. Weber served in a variety of financial positions at both a corporate and operating unit level with Motorola.

Steven Meyer

Mr. Steven J. Meyer is Corporate Vice President - Human Resources of Woodward, Inc. Mr. Meyer served as Vice President, Human Resources from November 2006 through September 2009; Director, Global Human Resources from November 2002 Through October 2006; Director, Human Resources for Industrial Controls from July 1997 through October 2002. Prior to joining Woodward, Mr. Meyer was employed by PG&E Corporation and Nortel in a variety of roles in human resources.

Matt Cook

Matthew Taylor

Mr. Matthew F. Taylor has been appointed President - Airframe Systems of the Company., Effective February 2, 2018. He joined Woodward in 2005, and has been serving as Corporate Vice President, Global Supply Chain, since 2011. Matt has extensive experience in P&L management, business development, operations, sales, finance and strategic planning. In addition to his supply chain leadership role, Matt supported the three major acquisitions that established Woodward's Airframe Systems business group, and served as the Vice President & General Manager, as well as the integration lead, of the company's Thrust Reverser Actuation Systems business in Duarte, CA during the first eighteen months of operation following its acquisition. Other prior roles at Woodward include Director of Operations then General Manager of the Industrial Fluid Systems & Controls business. Prior to joining Woodward, Mr. Taylor served in various senior leadership positions at Delphi, Eaton Aerospace and Warner Electric. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Michigan State University, and a Master's in Management from Purdue University.

John Tysver

Mr. John D. Tysver is Corporate Vice President - Technology of the company. He was Vice President, Aircraft Turbine Systems’ Programs, Systems and Research & Development July 2015 through October 2016; Vice President and General Manager of Aircraft Turbine Systems’ Fuel Systems Center of Excellence April 2011 through July 2015; Vice President of Turbine Systems’ Systems & Engineering October 2009 through April 2011; Director of Turbine Systems’ Systems & Engineering November 2006 through October 2009. Prior to November 2006, Mr. Tysver served in a variety of engineering leadership roles since joining Woodward in March 1991. Prior to joining Woodward, Mr. Tysver served in engineering roles at Sundstrand (now UTC Aerospace Systems).

Dan Bowman

Mr. Dan Bowman is Corporate Vice President - Strategy and Business Development of the Company. Mr. Bowman most recently held the position of Vice President, Sales, Marketing, and Commercial Operations for the Aircraft Turbine Systems group of Woodward. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering Technology from Purdue University and holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Chapman University.

Mr. James R. Rulseh is Lead Independent Director of the Woodward, Inc. Mr. Rulseh is President of JRR & Associates, LLC, an independent manufacturing consulting company focused on operations improvement and operational leadership excellence. Prior to May 2011, Mr. Rulseh served as the Chief Operating Officer, Tulip Corporation, a private manufacturing company, since October 2009. Prior to joining Tulip Corporation, Mr. Rulseh served in the following capacities for Modine Manufacturing Company, an NYSE listed company that is a diversified global leader in thermal management technology and solutions: Special Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer, from January 2009 to October 2009; Regional Vice President – Americas, and an officer of Modine Manufacturing Company, from October 2007 to January 2009; Regional Vice President – Asia and an officer of Modine Manufacturing Company, from November 2006 to October 2007; Group Vice President and an officer of Modine Manufacturing Company, from April 2001 to November 2006; Managing Director of the Automotive Business Unit of Modine Europe, from 1998 to March 2001. Prior to 1998, Mr. Rulseh had held various other positions with Modine beginning in 1977.

Eileen Drake

Ms. Eileen P. Drake serves as Director of the Company. Ms. Drake joined El-Segundo, California-based Aerojet Rocketdyne in 2015 and serves as CEO and President. She was previously with United Technologies Corporation (UTC), where she served as president of Pratt & Whitney AeroPower’s auxiliary power unit and small turbojet propulsion business. Prior experience includes various senior level roles at UTC and Ford Motor Company. Ms. Drake served on active duty for seven years as a U.S. Army aviator and airfield commander of Davison Army Airfield in Fort Belvoir, VA. Ms. Drake is a distinguished military graduate of the U.S. Army Aviation Officer School. She received a Master’s of Business Administration from Butler University and a Bachelor of Arts from the College of New Rochelle. She also holds commercial and private pilot’s licenses in both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.

Daniel Korte

Mr. Daniel G. Korte serves as Director of the Company. Mr. Korte joined St. Louis, Missouri-based LMI Aerospace in 2014, where he serves as CEO. Prior to joining LMI, he was the President of the Rolls Royce Defense Group in Washington, DC and London, UK. Prior experience includes various senior level roles at The Boeing Company in supply chain, program management and general management. Mr. Korte holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Southern Illinois University and received his MBA from Lindenwood University.

John Cohn

Mr. John D. Cohn is an Independent Director of Woodward, Inc. Mr. Cohn has served as Senior Vice President, Asia Business Planning and Execution, of Rockwell Automation, Inc., a global provider of innovative industrial automation and information products, services and solutions since September 2011. In this capacity, Mr. Cohn develops and implements regional and country level business strategies for approximately $1 billion of Rockwell Automation sales. Additionally, Mr. Cohn leads business development activities, industry business plans, and other market expansion opportunities to drive growth for Rockwell Automation on a global basis. Prior to accepting this position in August 2011, Mr. Cohn served at Rockwell Automation as Senior Vice President, European Business Planning and Execution from March 2009 to August 2011, and as Senior Vice President, Strategic Development and Communications, for Rockwell Automation from 1999 to 2009.

Paul Donovan

Mr. Paul Donovan is Independent Director of Woodward, Inc. Mr. Paul Donovan retired in 2004 as special advisor to the Chairman of Wisconsin Energy Corporation. Mr. Donovan had previously served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Wisconsin Energy Corporation from 1999 until 2003. Prior to joining Wisconsin Energy Corporation, Mr. Donovan was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sundstrand Corporation, a manufacturer of aerospace and industrial products, from June 1988 to August 1999. Prior to June 1988, he held a variety of financial positions, including at Allied Signal and Ford Motor Company. Mr. Donovan’s demonstrated leadership of large company corporate finance and tax departments provides the Board with expertise regarding the intricacies of tax, banking, finance, and mergers and acquisitions. He also possesses direct knowledge of the power generation, transportation and aerospace markets, all of which are key business segments for Woodward.

John Halbrook

Mr. John A. Halbrook is an Independent Director of Woodward, Inc. Mr. Halbrook retired as Chairman of the Board of the Company in January 2008, and previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the Company from November 1993 until July 2005. Mr. Halbrook has served in various other executive positions with the Company, including Chief Executive Operating Officer and President. Prior to joining Woodward, Mr. Halbrook garnered broad experience in finance and accounting, budgeting, marketing, strategic planning and operations through positions with Worthington Pumps, McGraw Edison, Turbodyne, General Electric, and General Dynamics.

Mary Petrovich

Ms. Mary L. Petrovich is an Independent Director of Woodward, Inc. Ms. Mary L. Petrovich has been serving as a senior advisor to private equity with the Carlyle Group and American Security Partners since June 2011. Prior to this role, Ms. Petrovich served as General Manager of AxleTech International, a supplier of off-highway and specialty vehicle drive train systems and components, after its acquisition by General Dynamics in December 2008. Ms. Petrovich served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AxleTech International from 2001 through the December 2008 sale of the company to General Dynamics. Prior to AxleTech, in 2000, Ms. Petrovich was President of the Drivers Controls Division of Dura Automotive, possessing management responsibility for 7,600 employees.

Larry Rittenberg

Dr. Larry E. Rittenberg, Ph.D., CPA is an Independent Director of Woodward, Inc. Dr. Rittenberg, PhD, CPA and CIA, has been Professor Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin since August 2011. He was the Ernst & Young Professor of Accounting & Information Systems at the University of Wisconsin until his retirement from that position in August 2011. Dr. Rittenberg has been on the faculty at the University since 1976, and served as the chair of the accounting department for 12 years. Dr. Rittenberg continues to teach auditing, enterprise risk management, governance and control, and has served in leadership positions across a number of professional organizations, including the American Institute of CPAs, the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and the American Accounting Association (AAA), where he served as VP of Finance and established the first audit committee within the AAA. Dr. Rittenberg served as Chairman of the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (“COSO”) from 2004 to 2009. COSO is a voluntary private sector organization dedicated to improving the quality of financial reporting through business ethics, effective internal controls, and corporate governance. He also served as a financial advisor providing counsel on Sarbanes-Oxley compliance to the Audit Committee and Board of Petro China, one of the largest publicly listed companies in China.

Ronald Sega

Dr. Ronald M. Sega, Ph.D., is an Independent Director of Woodward, Inc. Dr. Sega serves as Director, Systems Engineering Programs at Colorado State University (“CSU”) and Special Assistant to the Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives. Prior to this role, he was Vice President and Enterprise Executive for Energy and the Environment at CSU and The Ohio State University (“OSU”) from September 2010 through August 2013. CSU and OSU are two Land-Grant universities engaged in efficient, sustainable development of practical products using our natural resources through education, research and outreach. At CSU, he served as chair of the Sustainability, Energy, and Environment Advisory Committee (CSU ranked #1 in Sustainability – ref STARS). Dr. Sega also served as chair of the President’s and Provost’s Council on Sustainability at OSU. Dr. Sega held the position of Vice President for Energy, Environment, and Applied Research with the CSU Research Foundation from September 2007 through August 2010. Prior to joining CSU, Dr. Sega served as Under Secretary for the U.S. Air Force from August 2005 to August 2007. As Under Secretary, Dr. Sega led a team that developed a comprehensive energy strategy emphasizing supply, demand, and culture with results in 2006 leading to the receipt of the overall Presidential Award for Leadership in Federal Energy Management for the U.S. Government. As Under Secretary, Dr. Sega’s role also included the Department of Defense (“DOD”) Executive Agent for space, and the Air Force Service Acquisition Executive for space programs. From August 2001 until August 2005, Dr. Sega was Director of Defense Research and Engineering, Office of the Secretary of Defense, which is the Chief Technology Officer for the DOD. From July 1996 to August 2001, he served as Dean, College of Engineering and Applied Science, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Dr. Sega is a former NASA astronaut and veteran of two shuttle missions. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in the rank of Major General.

Gregg Sengstack

Mr. Gregg C. Sengstack is Independent Director of Woodward, Inc. Mr. Sengstack was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Franklin Electric Co., Inc. in May 2014, and Chairman in May 2015. He has been President of the company since December 2011. Franklin Electric is a global leader in the production and marketing of systems and components for the movement of water and automotive fuels. Mr. Sengstack was President of Franklin Electric’s International Water Systems and Fueling Group from 2005 to 2011, and was Chief Financial Officer for Franklin Electric from 1999 to 2005. Mr. Sengstack joined Franklin Electric in 1988 and has worked on numerous acquisitions in the U.S. and overseas during his career.

Jonathan Thayer

Mr. Jonathan (“Jack”) W. Thayer is an Independent Director of the Company. Mr. Thayer has served as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Exelon Corporation since 2012, an energy provider and holding company for several energy businesses. Prior to joining Exelon, Mr. Thayer held the position of Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer for Constellation Energy Group, Inc. from October 2008 until Constellation Energy’s acquisition by Exelon. Mr. Thayer was also appointed Treasurer of Constellation Energy in August 2008, and held prior positions of Vice President and Managing Director, Corporate Strategy and Development (2004-2008) and Director, Investor Relations (2003-2004). Prior to joining Constellation Energy, Mr. Thayer held financial positions at Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc. and SBC Warburg Dillon Read, Inc.
