AMN Healthcare Services, Inc., incorporated on November 10, 1997, provides healthcare workforce solutions and staffing services at acute and sub-acute care hospitals and other healthcare facilities throughout the United States. The Company's segments include nurse and allied solutions, locum tenens solutions and other workforce solutions. Through its suite of solutions, the Company provides technology, analytics and services to build and manage all or a portion of its clients' healthcare workforce needs, from nurses, doctors and allied health professionals to healthcare leaders and executives, both on a temporary and permanent basis. It offers managed services programs (MSP), vendor management systems (VMS), predictive analytics, workforce optimization consulting, recruitment process outsourcing (RPO), interim and executive leadership, and remote medical coding. It offers various services, including travel nurse staffing; rapid response nurse staffing and labor disruption services; local, or per diem, staffing; locum tenens staffing; allied staffing; physician permanent placement services, and health information management.
The Company provides clients with nurses, to work temporary assignments under its brand, American Mobile, as well as under its Onward Healthcare and Nurses Rx brands. Assignments in acute-care hospitals, including teaching institutions, trauma centers and community hospitals, consist of its assignments. Under its O'Grady-Peyton brand, it also recruits nurses internationally from English speaking countries. It provides a shorter-term staffing solution of up to eight weeks under its NurseChoice brand to address hospitals' urgent need for registered nurses, including electronic medical records conversion projects. It also provides labor disruption services for clients involved in strikes of nurses and allied professional staff through its HealthSource Global Staffing subsidiary. Primarily through its Nursefinders brand, the Company provides its clients local staffing, often in conjunction with its MSP clients. Local staffing involves the placement of locally based healthcare professionals on daily shift work on an as-needed basis.
The Company places physicians of various specialties, practice clinicians and dentists on an independent contractor basis on temporary assignments with various types of healthcare organizations throughout the United States, including hospitals, health systems, medical groups, occupational medical clinics, psychiatric facilities, government institutions and insurance companies. The Company recruits these professionals nationwide and places them on assignment lengths ranging from a few days up to 1 year. The Company markets these services through its Staff Care and Locum Leaders brands. It provides allied health professionals, both on a travel and local staffing basis, under the Med Travelers and Club Staffing brands to acute-care hospitals and other healthcare facilities, such as skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation clinics, and retail and mail-order pharmacies. Allied health professionals include such disciplines as physical therapists, respiratory therapists, occupational therapists, medical and radiology technologists, lab technicians, speech pathologists, rehabilitation assistants and pharmacists.
The Company provides physician permanent placement services to hospitals, healthcare facilities and physician practice groups throughout the United States. The Company also provides physician and executive leadership search services focused on serving academic medical centers and children's hospitals nationwide through its MillicanSolutions brand. As of December 31, 2016, its specialty offerings included over 70 specialist and sub-specialist opportunities, such as internal medicine, family practice and surgery. It provides executive and clinical leadership interim staffing, healthcare executive search services and advisory services. Practice areas include senior healthcare executives, physician executives, chief nursing officers and other clinical and operational leaders.
The Company offers a managed services program, in which it manages all or a portion of a client's contingent staffing needs. This service includes both the placement of its own healthcare professionals and the utilization of other staffing agencies. It provides two VMS technologies: ShiftWise and Medefis. The Company offers its clients RPO services, customized to their particular needs, pursuant to which it recruits, hires and/or onboards permanent clinical and nonclinical positions on behalf of the client. The Company provides workforce optimization services, including consulting, data analytics, predictive modeling and SaaS-based scheduling technology. The Company offers remote medical coding and related health information management consulting solutions to hospitals and physician medical groups nationwide.
