Mr. Theodoros M. Mitrakos has served as Deputy Governor of the Board of Directors of Bank of Greece since March 2015. He graduated with honors from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Athens and holds a PhD in Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business. Since 1997, he has worked as an Economist with the Economic Analysis and Research Department of the Bank of Greece. Over the past six years, he created and developed the Department’s Real Estate Market Analysis Section. Before joining the Bank of Greece, Mr. Mitrakos worked for the Centre of Planning and Economic Research – KEPE (1987-88) and for the National Accounts Department of the Hellenic Statistical Authority – ELSTAT (1989-97). In 2011 he was elected Associate Professor at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences. As a Visiting Professor he has also taught in the post-graduate program of the University of the Peloponnese as well as courses in Business Administration and Organization Management at the Hellenic Open University. In 2010-2011, he served as vice-president of the Hellenic Public Real Estate Corporation. He has participated in many international conferences and has several years of research and teaching experience. He has published over 50 articles in international journals and in collective volumes. He has also co-authored five books, including “The Greek banking landscape and the international financial crisis”, “Structural change and banking employment”, and “Education and the labor market”, which won an award from the Academy of Athens. His research focus is on labor market issues, European and monetary policy, income distribution and the real estate market.
