China stocks ended flat on Thursday in lacklustre trading, as investors awaited more policy signals ahead of a key meeting of the ruling Communist Party next week.
Chinese blue-chips and shares in Hong Kong fell on Thursday, though the main Shanghai Composite index posted small gains, with investors cautious ahead of the possible escalation of a trade war with the United States this week.
China stocks rose again on Wednesday to a fresh three-week high, as demand for infrastructure shares helped the market maintain a rebound fuelled by economic stimulus hopes, although some analysts warned the relief rally could soon peter out.
