Lilly makes $8 billion bet on drugs for rare cancers with Loxo Oncology buy

Eli Lilly said on Monday it will buy Loxo Oncology Inc for $8 billion, an expensive bet on a pipeline of cancer drugs that target rare genetic mutations and the biggest acquisition in the drugmaker's 143-year history. The price represents a 68 percent premium to Loxo's Friday share price close, which some Wall Street analysts said was high for a company with only one drug on the market that it shares with a partner.

Hill-Rom, Wells Fargo's VC invest in Israel's EarlySense

EarlySense, an Israeli maker of medical monitoring systems, said on Monday it raised $39 million in financing led by medical technology firm Hill-Rom  and Wells Fargo Strategic Capital, the venture capital arm of Wells Fargo & Co.

Mergers, buyouts, refinancing spur record U.S. loan issuance

NEW YORK (LPC) - Record financing for mergers and acquisitions as well as a push to lock in borrowing costs before interest rates headed higher drove US syndicated loan issuance to an all-time high of $2.6 trillion in 2018, surpassing by 6 percent the prior record set a year earlier.
