"When I first was thinking about canvassing, my biggest dilemma was, I have to have time to ride my horses, get them exercise, get them out on the trail, how am I going to do both? And then I kind of looked around where I live and I thought, 'Ah hah, I'll canvas on horseback,'" said Rifi, who ironically is allergic to horse hair, hay and sagebrush.

Even though not all of her neighbors support Sanders, she still feels welcome. "It has been such a warm reception, honestly. Even people who aren't Bernie supporters have just been wonderful," she said. "I have to say, that speaks to my community. People are just kind and wonderful. And, you know, even if they maybe not don't necessarily agree with you on all issues, we can all agree that we love our horses and we love where we live. And we really want the best for ourselves, our families, our kids and grandkids."
