Mar 13 - The Pope calls on the faithful to pray for the victims of Japan's earthquake as citizens of Germany and Russia offer condolences. Deborah Lutterbeck reports

Supplies arrive at an evacuation center in Japan. Residents who live near nuclear plants have sought shelter away from home. The devastating quake and tsunami have turned parts of the country into a wasteland. People across Japan are trying to salvage what they can. More than 10,000 are feared dead. As the faithful gather at St. Peter's Square in Vatican city, the Pope call for prayers for japan. 10. (SOUNDBITE) (English) POPE BENEDICT SAYING: SOUNDBITE: Pope Benedict, saying (English): "As I greet you this morning, I ask you to join me in praying for the victims of the recent devastation visited upon Japan. May the bereaved and injured be comforted and may the rescue workers be strengthened in their efforts to assist the courageous Japanese people." At the Japanese embassy in Berlin, German citizens pay their respects with flowers, candles and offers of support. A similar scene at the Japanese embassy in Moscow where people sign a condolence book. Japan is struggling to respond to a disaster of epic proportions.
