"Peaceful revolution" rally in Yemen

May 27 - Tens of thousands turned out in Sanaa, Yemen for what they were calling a ''peaceful revolution.'' Deborah Gembara reports.

Just after Friday prayers in Yemen, thousands turned out in Sanaa to show their support for embattled President Ali Abdullah Saleh. A few miles away, tens of thousands took to the streets for what they were calling a "peaceful revolution." They released doves and carried the coffins of those killed in recent clashes. Yemen has been rocked by violence following the recent collapse of an agreement between Saleh and those who say it's time for him to go. Nearly a 100 people have been killed in Sanaa this week and roads leading from the city are filled with people fleeing the the turmoil in the capital. Inspired by events in Egypt and Tunisia, the unrest in Yemen has continued for four months. Many fear the country is on the brink of civil war as Saleh, who has been in power for 33 years, struggles to fend off a persistent opposition. Deborah Gembara, Reuters.
