Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is denying media reports he smoked crack cocaine. SOUNDBITE: Toronto Mayor Rob Ford saying: "These allegations are ridiculous. It's another story with respect to the Toronto Star going after me and that's all I've got to say for now." The controversy began after reporters from The Star and the website Gawker said they'd watched cell phone video that appears to show Ford smoking crack. One of them described the video. Reuters cannot independently confirm the existence of the video which is reportedly being shopped around for about $100,000. Deputy Mayor Doug Holyday says he has not spoken with Ford since the controversy surfaced but is confident the allegations aren't true. SOUNDBITE: Toronto Deputy Mayor Doug Holyday saying: "Well, there's a large contingent of political people that want the mayor out of office. They don't want him to make the changes that he's been making. I totally agree with the changes that he's put forward, and the agenda that he's put forward, and I've tried my best to support and I will continue to support it whether he's here or not here. But the people who are opposed to this seem to be willing to go to any lengths to make a change. (Reporter asks: "Do you believe the article?) No, I don't." This isn't the first controvery for Ford who took office more than two years ago. He has rankled locals by skipping council meetings to coach high school football and getting into a fight with a reporter outside his home.
