STORY: The 65th annual primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced early Thursday morning (July 18) in Los Angeles with television thriller "American Horror Story: Asylum" and medieval fantasy "Game of Thrones" leading the nominees. In a new twist, online DVD and streaming service Netflix won its first Emmy nominations for political drama "House of Cards" and comedy "Arrested Development." This year's Emmy Awards will take place on September 22. Rapper Jay Z's latest album "Magna Carta Holy Grail" debuted at the top of the Billboard 200. The album sold 528,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, making it the second-best debut week for an album this year behind Justin Timberlake's "The 20/20 Experience." It's the rapper's 13th No. 1 album, the most by a solo artist in the chart's history. Comic-Con, the world's largest pop culture trade convention, kicked off Thursday (July 18). It attracts more than 125,000 people each year, many of whom come dressed up as their favorite comic book and film characters, and brought an estimated $75 million to the city of San Diego last year. The event, in its 44th year, runs through Sunday (July 21). Johnny Rotten may not like it but he is starting to become Johnny Icon. The 57-year-old former frontman of the anarchic 1970s punk band the Sex Pistols will receive an award for his contribution to music from the music rights organization BMI at a gala in London on October 15.
