This man is at the heart of political tensions that have gripped Egypt. Mohamed Mursi was ousted by the army in July and an interim government installed. Now the deposed President is set to go on trial on the 4th of November on charges of inciting murder and violence. The charges relate to the deaths of at least seven people during clashes between opposition protesters and Mursi's Muslim Brotherhood supporters outside the presidential palace in Cairo last year. Since Mursi was ousted, Egyptian authorities have clashed repeatedly with Muslim Brotherhood supporters. And Egyptians have opposing views on his trial. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) EGYPTIAN CITIZEN, YASEEN MOHAMED, SAYING: "To be honest he has a kind demeanor. But if it is proven that he was conspiring with external forces then I agree with the decision to put him on trial. Any Egyptian who has lived on Egypt's soil and drank from Egypt's Nile River and betrayed Egypt must be tried and executed." (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) EGYPTIAN ACCOUNTANT, MAHMOUD ABDEL AZEEM, SAYING: "I believe that the trial is based on misleading facts, what does it mean to be charged with conspiring with Hamas? These matters couldn't have been hidden from the national security and intelligence forces. I think that these charges are all fabricated." Here in this latest round of violence more than 50 people were killed in fighting between Mursi supporters, opponents and security forces in several cities on Sunday. Thousands of members of the Muslim Brotherhood have also been detained. The U.s. has been unhappy with Egypt's path. On Wednesday it suspended delivery of military systems as well as 260 million dollars in aid, pending progress on democracy and human rights.
