ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Multi-national military troops continued their combat drills in Eshidiya and Aqaba in Jordan on Monday as part of the ongoing Eager Lion 2015 exercise which began on May 5. The Eager Lion training is an annual military event which brings together international personnel for a joint program on Jordanian soil. In Eshidiya, 250km south of Amman, Jordanian, American and Italian forces participated in a live combat maneuver which demonstrated an offensive designed to regain occupied border territory. Jordanian Lt. Prince Faisal and other army officials were present to watch the drill. In addition to F-16 fighters, Cobra and Apache helicopters formed an air force that targeted enemy points, while American B-52 bombers joined the attack for the first time since the launch of the Eager Lion drill 5 years ago. Major General Rick B. Mattson, the United States Central Command Exercise Director, said regional turmoil was not the driving force behind the training. "It shows that there's a common interest among all 18 nations for regional stability, and that's why we're here," said Mattson. A naval maneuver took place in the city of Aqaba. The drill was set around a fictitious scenario whereby Jordanian and American troops had to seize an enemy ship. About 10,000 military personnel from 18 different countries participated in this year's drill, including Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE, Lebanon, Iraq, UK, France, Italy, Pakistan, USA, Canada, Belgium, Poland, Australia and Jordan. The event is organized by the Jordanian Armed Forces in partnership with US Central Command (USCENTCOM) and will conclude on Tuesday (May 19).
