Turkish police raided more than 100 suspected Islamic State and Kurdish militant locations in Istanbul on Friday, local media say. Police were seen taking the suspects from the locations into a hospital for medical checks. The raids are part of a crackdown by the government to protect the country after a series of attacks from Islamist and Kurdish militants. Also Friday, government officials said Turkish fighter jets departed from the air base seen here in file video and bombed Islamic State targets in Syria. The prime minister's office said two Islamic State headquarters and one assembly point were hit in the attack. The largely Kurdish southeast has been hit with a wave of violence after a suspected Islamic State suicide bombing killed a group of students in a town on the Syrian border.
