Markets around Asia ending trade on Wednesday (Sep 02) nearly flat. Stocks in Shanghai had a volatile day with losses of over four percent in morning trade before closing down just 0.2 percent. Investors initially still wary after Tuesday's (Sep 01) disappointing factory data but new measures announced by brokerages to support the market improved sentiment. Across the border in Hong Kong, China pressures were felt with the Hang Seng index posting the day's largest loss of 1.2 percent. Japanese equities were also affected by Chinese losses with the Nikkei closing down 0.4 percent. Early trade in Japan was dominated by bargin hunters looking to buy after last week's six-month low in the index. Bucking the downward trend was South Korea's KOSPI - holding on to close up 0.05 percent as domestic automakers like Hyundai and Kia posted gains with help from the falling won. ENDS
