In a dusty field in Sinjar, Iraq, clothes... bullets... and bones. Having ousted Islamic State from the area, Kurdish forces are now making gruesome discoveries... one mass grave at a time. Each one believed to contain remains of the city's Yazidi minority. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) NASER BASHI SHEIKH KHALAF, PROMINENT FIGURE IN SINJAR, SAYING: "Information from reliable sources indicates that there are several other mass graves, especially in Kojo area where the most heinous crime was committed." Islamic State overran Sinjar in August 2014, systematically killing, capturing and enslaving thousands of Yazidis. Thousands of others fled in terror. For survivors like Faweez Safeel Omar, the memory is still fresh. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) FAWAZ SAFEEL OMAR, SURVIVOR OF A MASS KILLING BY ISLAMIC STATE MILITANTS, SAYING: "Some 20 men showered us with a hail of bullets from behind, while others stood in front of us to film us. When I heard the bullets whizzing, before being hit, I threw myself in a ditch and bodies fell on me. My whole body was covered with blood and I had three bodies on top of me. I pretended to be dead and waited for them to leave. They shot them all and walked away." It's believed there could be more than 30 mass graves in and around Sinjar..evidence authorities hope will eventually prove Islamic State guilty of genocide.
