Fiji is facing a massive cleanup in the wake of super Cyclone Winston which slammed into the Pacific island nation on Saturday with winds of up to 325 kilometres per hour. At least 17 people are now known to have died. The prime minister says the country has been shocked by one of the most powerful storms ever recorded in the southern hemisphere. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FIJIAN PRIME MINISTER, JOSAIA VOREQE BAINIMARAMA SAYING: "Homes have been destroyed, many low lying areas have flooded and many people have been left stunned and confused about what to do." In the town of Ba on the northern coast of Fiji's main island, this man was picking through what was left of his house. (SOUNDBITE) (English) BA RESIDENT, ASESELA SADOLE SAYING: "We were inside the house so it was very strong, damage everything so we had to run for our lives in the church." The storm cut off communication with remote villages making it difficult to get a complete picture of the extent of the destruction. Aid agencies are warning of a health crisis after the storm wiped out crops and blocked fresh water supplies.
