Violence at a key checkpoint in the occupied West bank with a Palestinian man and woman shot dead by Israeli forces. Police say the woman was holding a knife, and the man walked rapidly towards police and other Israeli security guards in a vehicles-only lane at the Qalandia checkpoint outside Jerusalem. Alaa Sobouh was at the scene. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) EYEWITNESS, ALAA SOBOUH, SAYING: "We arrived here we saw the man and the woman walking towards the checkpoint. They did not look like they were from here. The Israeli forces started to shout at them. When they were alerted, they started to fire at them and tell them to go back. The woman looked pregnant. They shot her first and then aimed at the man and he started moving backwards and they started to fire at him. They shot them with more than seven bullets." The woman was later identified as 23-year-old Maram Abu Ismail. The man with her was not immediately named, although some reports said she was the woman's husband. In the last half year, Palestinian attacks have killed 28 Israelis and two visiting U.S. citizens. Israeli forces have killed at least 193 Palestinians, 130 of whom Israel says were assailants.
