ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Hillary Clinton said on Monday (August 08) that her Republican rival Donald Trump's new economic advisors had written his major economic speech which he delivered in Detroit and had simply repackaged "old, tired ideas". Speaking to supporters in St. Petersburg, Florida, Clinton said that Trump's speech had repackaged trickle-down economics. His proposals, she said, would only benefit the wealthy. "They tried to make his old, tired ideas sound new. But here's what we all know, because we heard it again. His tax plans will give super big tax breaks to large corporations and the really wealthy. Just like him and the guys who wrote the speech, right?" she said. In his Detroit speech Trump proposed sweeping tax breaks, cuts to federal regulations and a revival of the stalled Keystone XL oil pipeline project. The New York businessman used a speech on the economy to try to turn the page after a week of missteps in which he came under heavy criticism, including from some in his own party, and rival Democrat Hillary Clinton surged ahead in opinion polls with three months to go until the Nov. 8 election.
