A rapper is in hot water in Malaysia after producing a music video which allegedly insulted Islam. Wee Meng Chee, who goes by the stage name Namewee, was kept in police custody for four days over a music video called "Oh My God!" that he directed and produced for a Taiwanese band. Namewee is facing further police investigation over the alleged use of footage said to depict a mosque and the use of the words 'Allah' and 'Mecca'. A Penang police chief said the musician was being investigated for "injuring or defiling a place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class". The offence carries a penalty of up to two years in jail, a fine, or both. Malaysia, which is made up of mostly Muslims, is sensitive about communal relations between religious groups in the country. In 2014, Malaysia's highest court upheld a ruling barring a Christian publication from using the word 'Allah' for Malay-speaking non-Muslims, effectively denying use of the word to those who don't practice Islam.
