It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Ukraine. Glassblowers at this factory just outside Kiev are busy handcrafting baubles for the festive season. Established in 1949, it's one of the largest manufacturers of its kind in eastern Europe. Production begins in February and lasts all year. (SOUNDBITE) (Russian) KLAVDIYEVO-TARASOVE FACTORY MANAGER, SERHIY KARPENKO, SAYING: "We are not just selling baubles, we are selling happiness. Each bauble bears a small part of the soul of everyone who participates in its creation." The art of glass-blowing dates back to the 19th century. And the technique hasn't changed. (SOUNDBITE) (Ukrainian) CHRISTMAS SHOPPER, MARIYA, SAYING: "The manufacturing process is very interesting. It's unusual that everything is handmade and not machine produced." The factory has survived the Soviet era and so far mass manufacturing. It's now open to the public. Hoping to encourage the next generation of artists to keep this age old tradition alive.
