Canadian Armed Forces, representing the four battalions that fought in the Battle of Vimy, conduct a military ceremony at sunset on the eve of centenary commemorations for the World War One combat. Rough cut (no reporter narration).

ROUGH CUT. NO REPORTER NARRATION. Canadian Armed Forces paid tribute to soldiers killed in the World War One Battle of Vimy Ridge during a sunset ceremony in Vimy, France on Saturday (April 8), ahead of centenary commemorations on Sunday (April 9). More than 3,500 Canadian soldiers were killed in the hard-fought battle against three divisions of the German Sixth Army in their attempt to capture the ridge in 1917. The forces that participated in the sunset tribute represented the four battalions that fought in Vimy. Some 25,000 people are expected to attend Sunday's ceremony, with French President Francois Hollande and Canadian Prime Minister Justine Trudeau participating in the commemorations.
