Uber announcing director David Bonderman's resignation on Tuesday, after a comment he made about women at a staff meeting kicked up a storm of controversy. Board members, including Arianna Huffington, had gathered to discuss how the company could fix its image after a recent probe into sexual harassment. But while Huffington was talking about the importance of adding women to the board, Bonderman chipped in saying that would only result in a lot more talking. News of his departure comes as Uber founder and CEO Travis Kalanick confirms he's also leaving temporarily, as the company tries to claw its way back from a series of scandals. He says he needs time to grieve for his recently deceased mother, and work on his leadership skills. It comes just after the company released recommendations from an investigation into the its culture and practices led by former US Attorney General Eric Holder. The inquiry calls for reducing Kalanick's sweeping authority and bringing in more controls over company spending, human resources, and the behaviour of managers.
