Serial acquirer Symantec's at it again. It's buying the Israeli cybersecurity startup, Fireglass. The deal enables the American security software company to boost its lineup of products that guard corporate email and web browsing from threats like ransomeware and phishing. Fireglass specializes in "browser isolation". That's a hot area that research firm Gartner projects half of companies would adopt by 2021. That technology creates virtual websites. Those sites allow users to look at any content without viruses touching their network. Stifel cybersecurity analyst Gur Talpaz said, "Symantec can deliver Fireglass' service more efficiently. Symantec gets the next evolutionary step for its web security business." Symantec wouldn't disclose how much it is paying for Fireglass. Symantec shares gave up some of their 16 percent gain this year at the market open.
