Amazon is billing it as the nation's largest jobs fair. Next Wednesday, the online retailer will hold jobs events in the hopes of filling 50,000 positions. It says it'll make thousands of offers on the spot to those who qualify. And the majority of those are full-time positions with complete benefits that include company stock. Amazon will hold jobs day events at 12 locations. Ten of those are at its warehouses, ranging from its home state of Washington to Hebron, Kentucky, to Robbinsville, New Jersey. It'll hire full-time workers to pick, pack, and ship customer orders at its warehouses. The roughly 10,000 part-time jobs involve sorting and consolidating customer packages at sortation centers. This is all part of the company's drive to hire more than 100,000 people from software development to warehouse work as it races to speed up deliveries. Morningstar analyst R.J. Hottovy said, "It's the primary motivation. In this day and age, consumer purchasing decisions are as much about shipping speed as it is price and selection." In the past, Amazon has been criticized for operating stifling hot warehouses and not recording workers' injuries.
