A terrorist plot to bring down a plane in Australia taken down by a major counter-terrorism operation, according to the country's prime minister. "At this stage four people have been arrested and a considerable amount of material has been ceased by police," said Malcolm Turnbull. Police say the suspects were planning to attack with an improvised explosive device at Sydney airport. They haven't been linked to any specific terrorist group, but police are looking into motives. "Well, early days of the investigation, as I said before, we do believe it is Islamic-inspired terrorism. Exactly what is behind this is something that we will need to investigate fully," said federal police commissioner Andrew Colvin. The raids were carried out in five different Sydney neighborhoods late Saturday (July 29), after police received a tip off about a potential attack. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says the counter-terrorism operations are still ongoing with extra security measures put in place at major airports across the country. "Some of the measures will be obvious to the public, some will not be," he said. Officials are advising Australians to travel as they normally would, but allow extra time for additional security screenings. The threat of home-grown militants returning from fighting in the Middle East has put the country on heightened alert. Authorities say they have thwarted a number of potential incidents since 2014.
