" STORY: Chairman of Italian club Juventus Andrea Agnelli became the new European Club Association (ECA) boss on Tuesday (September 5). Agnelli took over the role after Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stepped aside. Rummenigge is chairman of Bayern Munich and has been ECA chairman since its formation in 2008. The ECA acts on behalf of about 230 member clubs across Europe, representing their interests through seats in UEFA and negotiating terms for when club players represent their countries in international matches. It also negotiates the conduct of the Champions League and Europa tournaments, and advises on meshing the calendars of club and international matches.
