TOP THREE WOMEN CELEBRATING AT FINISH LINE STORY: American Zandy Mangold and German Angela Zaeh dominated the Atacama crossing from start to finish, winning the sixth and final stage on Saturday (October 7) following their wins of the first five stages. Mangold's winning time came in at 28 hours and 52 minutes, over an hour and a half ahead of second placed Danny Switzynck from Belgium. Zaeh was even more dominant in her field, clinching a winning time of 31 hours 9 minutes, nearly three hours quicker than second placed Kathia Rached from Lebanon. The competitors ran across the tough terrain of the world's driest desert for a week before the finish in San Pedro square. Final Top 5 for the Atacama Crossing (Chile) 2017: Men: 1.
