Deadly wildfires ravage California, north and south

Authorities say higher humidity levels are helping dampen fires north of San Francisco, but new blazes have forced evacuation of areas south of Los Angeles. Diane Hodges reports.

Sot: Michael Everidge/Sonoma County Resident: "Armageddon, it is just gone." This is what some northern California residents are seeing when they go home. Fast-moving fires in northern California have forced thousands of evacuations, killed at least 11 people so far and injured about 100 more.. SOT/ Chief Barry Biermann/Napa County Fire: "We are stilll having active fire in all locations. We are unfortunately continuing to experience additional Structure loss" But while the fires are still raging, officials say there is SOME good news. SOT/ Jonathan Cox: The humidity is up and the winds are down, but we know that can change quickly." As they gain ground in the north, crews are facing new blazes in the southern part of the state. SOT/UNIDENTIFIED: "It's just so sad to see what happened here. There's no words (sobbing)." Smoke and flame darken the skies above Disneyland in Anaheim. Seven counties have now been declared major disaster areas...although some help will be coming from federal officials. SOT / MIKE PENCE: "President Trump has approved a major disaster declaration to assist with the wildfires that are impacting the state." With entire neighborhoods leveled, fire-ravaged areas will need all the help they can get.
