SHOWS: SAINT-QUENTIN-EN-YVELINES, FRANCE (OCTOBER 16, 2017) (EUROPEAN TOUR - ACCESS ALL) 1. (SOUNDBITE) (English) THOMAS BJORN, EUROPEAN RYDER CUP CAPTAIN, SAYING: "The venue is just amazing. You can't say too many things about this place in the way that it handles the French Open so well and it's probably going to handle the Ryder Cup better than any venue we've ever been at. It's the stadium appearance of every hole on the golf course, but especially those last four. "It's just going to be a venue that with the greatest city in the world as a backdrop, it's going to be such a fantastic week. "It's going to be very very difficult to replicate in the future but at the moment we concentrate about Paris 2018. i just think it's going to be amazing, if I wasn't captain I would do anything to be here." 2. (SOUNDBITE) (English) JIM FURYK, U.S. RYDER CUP CAPTAIN, SAYING: "Something that I hoped I got the opportunity to do in my career, hoping I would do it before the age of 50 while I was still playing on tour, still knew a lot of the younger players but it is a huge honour. "I have been involved with a number of different Ryder Cups as well, as Thomas has. "I'm just really enjoying the process, now as we're here a year to go as we get closer obviously our preparations ramp up and I'm excited for this year." STORY: European Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn and his American counterpart Jim Furyk visited the course just outside of Paris where the tournament will be held next year on Monday (October 16). While there the two went to a school to talk to children about golf, hoping to build up excitement ahead of next year's event. France is hoping to break golf's elitist image in the country when it host the Ryder Cup next year. The biennal competition between Europe and the United States will take place in France for the first time from Sept 28-30, 2018. U.S. Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk and European captain Thomas Bjorn were on the course of the Golf National 20 miles (32 km)outside Paris for a media event.. Furyk has represented the United States at the Ryder Cup nine times as a player, and Denmark's Bjorn is the first Scandinavian to be handed the captaincy.
