ROUGH CUT. NO REPORTER NARRATION. France's Emmanuel Macron commemorated his first Armistice Day as the country's president on Saturday (November 11), marking the day fighting ended on the Western front during World War One in 1918. Macron inspected the troops and laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arc de Triomphe monument at the top of the Champs Elysees avenue. Former French presidents Nicolas Sarkozy and Francois Hollande also attended the ceremony, which attracted crowds despite drizzle and grey skies. France will in 2018 host a grand Armistice centenary, marking 100 years since 1918, with representatives from some 80 nations.
