SOCHI, Russia, May 3 (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday after talks with his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan that a Russian import ban on Turkish tomatoes would stay in place for now because time was needed to lift it.

Putin, speaking at a joint news conference with Erdogan in the southern Russian resort of Sochi, also said that visa restrictions with Turkey would also remain in place for now. (Reporting by Denis Pinchuk; Writing by Christian Lowe; Editing by Andrew Osborn)
