PLEASE NOTE: THIS EDIT CONTAINS CONVERTED 4:3 MATERIAL (ROUGH CUT ONLY - NO REPORTER NARRATION) Thousands of people turned out in Port Said on Tuesday (January 29) for the funeral of two demonstrators who were shot dead during a protest against the Egyptian president on Monday (January 29). 52 people have died in Egypt since violence erupted late last week when thousands of demonstrators came out to commemorate the second anniversary of the uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak on January 25th. Many of the deaths were in Port Said where the the protests were exacerbated when residents of the Mediterranean city were angered after a court sentenced to death several local residents accused of taking place in the killings of 74 football fans following a derby with Cairo team al-Ahly last year. After almost seven months since President Mohamed Mursi took office, Egypt politics have become even more deeply polarised with Mursi supporters and opponents blaming each other for the recent violence. Opponents spurned a call by Mursi for talks on Monday to try to end the violence. Instead, protesters have rallied in Cairo and Alexandria, and in the three Suez Canal cities - Port Said, Ismailia and Suez - where Mursi has imposed emergency rule and a nightly curfew.
