ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: House Speaker Paul Ryan told a crowd at Fall Fest in Wisconsin on Saturday (October 8) that the lewd comments made the Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump were "a troubling situation", and that he stood by the statement he had put out saying the comments "sickened" him. Trump had been scheduled to appear at Fall Fest, but was disinvited after a recording was released from 2005 in which he said he had tried to seduce a married woman, and bragged that he was able to grope attractive women because of his celebrity status. Ryan called the situation, "the elephant in the room," but said little before moving on to urging his audience to focus on working to re-elect Republican Ron Johnson to the U.S. Senate. The crowd responded by breaking out into chants of "USA, USA", and called out "shame on you." Ryan had been slow to endorse Trump and has not been photographed with him since Trump clinched the party's nomination for president. Fall Fest would have been the first time for the two to appear together in public. Meanwhile, Trump vowed on Saturday to remain in the race even as his campaign was thrown into crisis as both his wife and running mate criticized him and more than a dozen prominent Republicans withdrew support and urged him to drop out following news of the recording.
