The U.S. Masters started in bright and blustery conditions on Thursday although the fitness of newly injured world number one Dustin Johnson is the major talking point around Augusta National. Nathan Frandino reports.

World number one Dustin Johnson is at the top of his game... but on Wednesday he found himself at the bottom of a staircase in his Augusta rental home. Johnson injured his back when he fell down the stairs, but according to Golf Digest, the American star's condition is improving. Fans arriving at the Augusta National Golf Club for opening day say the injury could be a setback for Johnson. (SOUNDBITE) (English) SPECTATOR FROM LEICESTER, ENGLAND, ROBERT JELLEY, SAYING: "I think Dustin Johnson if he's not injured, having fallen down the stairs yesterday, maybe he might be injured, that might have put him off." Having won three straight tournaments heading into the Masters, Johnson has been touted as a favorite. The player and his fans are hoping for a quick recovery. .
